Silver Fox BJJ Academy in Northern New Jersey is a Renzo Gracie Jiu-Jitsu, also known as Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ) and Submission Grappling martial arts school. Silver Fox BJJ has been called one of the best BJJ schools in New Jersey and has been featured in many articles. Emphasis is placed on using technique and leverage rather than brute strength. Classes are taught with personalized attention, focus on flow to submissions (the most practical aspects of the martial art), and each student's advancement is measured by their own progress. We strive to provide the highest quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Martial Arts instruction in a fun and cooperative atmosphere.
The Head Instructor, Karel Pravec (aka Silver Fox) is a 2nd Degree Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt under legendary Renzo Gracie and John Danaher. Karel is one of Renzo's original U.S. students, and has spent 27 years studying martial arts, including over 20 years of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu with Renzo, John, and other leading teachers of BJJ. Karel still regularly trains with the highest authorities and practitioners of BJJ and mixed martial arts, including many current UFC fighters, at the world renowned Renzo Gracie Academy in New York. Karel is a highly sought after instructor who has taught seminars across the United States and in Europe, coached BJJ and submission grappling on national and international level (ADCC, IBJJF, GQ and NAGA tournaments) & cornered amateur and professional MMA fighters.
The Silver Fox BJJ Academy is located in Saddle Brook, NJ, easily accessible from the Garden State Parkway, Routes 80, 46 and 17.It recently expanded into a new location with 3,000 square feet, with top of the line mats (Zebra MMA Pro) and remodeled locker rooms with showers.The academy serves students from Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris and Passaic counties. It is one of the few schools run by a Black Belt with direct lineage to one of the world's most elite Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academies, the Renzo Gracie Academy in New York. Professor Pravec has built a reputation for his technical knowledge and teaching style.
